Jazmine Sullivan
Jazmine Sullivan was born in and lived from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mom was a former backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. Her father gave her an appointment as curator of the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She and her family later moved into the historical landmark. The 2005 Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts student, she is a major in singing. Sullivan started singing as a contralto in the children's choir, then just a few years later, in the adult choir. Sullivan was not exposed to secular music. She recalls when she was performing solos at church when a person advised her to join an evangelical label, however she did not feel ready for this job. "Then McDonald's offered a competition to kids from cities. Then I had the chance to perform the Grace of God on Showtime Apollo. The audience was extremely supportive." Stevie Wonder sang her part during her grandsons 13th birthday party. Sullivan was signed initially to Jive Records at the age 15. Sullivan was initially signed by Jive Records at the age 15. The singer-songwriter produced an entire album. However, this album didn't get released. Sullivan was later dropped at the hands of the company. The singer maintained a relationship with Missy Elliott who wrote and recorded some of the songs for her debut project, including the buzz single "Backstabbers" composed by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
